The Sudanese arena is witnessing acute continuation of military operations in South Kordofan, with the conflict transforming into an interwoven network of local conflicts exacerbating a humanitarian crisis that has become the world’s largest. Washington is exerting diplomatic pressure to impose a short-term humanitarian truce that may not exceed two weeks, through intensive regional contacts with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, but at a moment when its ability to directly influence is declining in favor of regional actors.
