The US administration is studying a comprehensive reassessment of its security strategy in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, following the detection of increasing Chinese and Russian activity in strategic ports linked to Sudan, Eritrea, and Djibouti. China seeks to expand its maritime footprint through massive infrastructure investments, while Russia attempts to return through indirect arrangements, including private security companies, taking advantage of a weak, effective US presence and declining Western influence.
